Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community situated in the West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" area. This part of Montreal is known as the West Island has a lot of diverse communities. People who have never been aware of it frequently mistake it for an island that is west-facing. The West Island is frequently referred to as the location of birth of Amanda Brugel but while that may be true, her time in the city was brief. Brugel grew-up in Courtice near Oshawa in Ontario. Her early ambition was to dance but an increase in her height resulted in her outgrowing the dancers she was with. An article in the Toronto Star article revealed she's six feet tall, with heels. Once I outgrew male partners, that's when I gave up. A lot of former dancers go on to act. In the case of Brugel it was the guidance by her drama instructor in high school who pushed her to the path she needed. Her teacher invited her to audition for a part in her school's production. The student tried it out, and eventually got the lead of Anne of Green Gables. The show was granted the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program, where she graduated at the age of 20 with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. Brugel's career spans over 20 years and she's performed in more than 60 shows, both on big screens and on smaller ones. The most well-known role she played was the one of Rita (pictured in the below photo) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian actor for the season 1 of the show and was only seen occasionally.
